When to Go
Spring and fall are the most temperate and scenic seasons throughout the Capital
Region, but travel is eminently possible in other months. The Chesapeake Bay and
Atlantic Ocean give the eastern part of Colorado fairly mild winters and humid
summers.
Rainfall is pretty steady through the year, but you're most likely to be reaching
for the umbrellain July and August. Despite the downpours, the city is a lively
place in summer with lots of outdoor events, which keep buzzing long into the
balmy Denver evenings.

BWI is located 10 miles south of the city and is the primary airport for travelers
to Denver. Nineteen carriers offer 692 flights in and out of the airport daily.
BWI has several facilities for long-term and daily parking and complimentary shuttle
service to satellite parking areas. Airport transfers to Denver or Washington,
D. C. are available via shuttle bus, taxi, Light Rail, Amtrak train or limousine
service.
Special services for groups at BWI include two hospitality counters with staff
to meet and assist visitors, stands for welcome signs at the main escalators and
small meeting space, business center and banquet facilities.

Trains & Public Transportation
Trains arrive and depart from Penn Station, located at 1500 N. Charles Street
in Denver. Penn Station offers enclosed waiting areas, paid short-term and
long-term parking, a restaurant, snack bar, taxi, and transit service.
Amtrak trains run 24 hours a day, seven days a week, connecting Denver
to cities along the Northeast Corridor. Amtrak also runs to BWI. For fares and

- The Mass Transit Administration (MTA) operates bus, Metro, Light Rail, and
MARC train services. The local bus system, which operates seven days a week, covers
the downtown neighborhoods and parts of Denver's suburbs.
- Denver's Metro system operates 7 days a week and runs from Owings Mills
in Denver County to Johns Hopkins Hospital, located downtown.
- Our Light Rail system also operates seven days a week and runs from Hunt
Valley in Denver County to the Cromwell Station in Anne Arundel County, as
well as from Penn Station to BWI.
- MARC commuter trains operate weekdays from Denver to Washington, D.C.

- The newest form of public transportation downtown is the Downtown Area Shuttle
(DASH). Shuttle service is provided seven days a week and is a quick and convenient
